The Galaxy Ring Is the First Tracker I Keep Forgetting I Have On

After years of wrists buzzing at me, a quiet little band has been a small relief.

I have a drawer of abandoned wrist trackers, each one eventually too needy to keep wearing. The Samsung Galaxy Ring, shown off in full at the July 2024 Unpacked, has lasted longer than any of them, and I think it is because it does not talk back.

It pairs with Samsung Health, reads my sleep and movement, and crucially does not hold the basics hostage behind a monthly fee. There is no glowing screen demanding a glance, no badge, no streak to protect. I take it off to wash up and forget it is there.

It made me realise that not every wearable needs a face or a screen to be useful. Some of them should be felt and not seen. I think glasses are the loud cousin of this idea, and the ring is a good reminder that restraint reads as confidence.
